We have gift certificates available at the store, just in time for the holidays.
Why buy someone a present when you know they’d rather shop for themselves!

If you’ve been having trouble making it to Made in Windsor during open business hours we’re helping you out by adding some extra browsing/shopping times. This Friday we’ll be open until midnight. Come shop while listening to great live local music as we launch the opening of our local music section!
We’ll also be open the following 2 Fridays until 9pm plus Sundays in December from 1-5. Hope to see you there!
As promised here are a few sample pics of some of the projects being worked on in November MIW classes and workshops. I’m still waiting for a sample photo of the crocheted purse. Will post as soon as I get it! See the “All Workshop Information” link to the right for more details on all classes and events.
Take our 3-week beginner’s sewing class 101 and learn to make all 3 of these items (a tissue holder, fabric notebook, purse). I can hardly believe that 3 weeks is all it will take but the instructor ensures me that will be plenty of time!
Sew this adorable stuffed kitty November 23.
VERY BEGINNER CROCHET – Monday, November 9 @ 7-9pm ($20 with materials included, or $15 without)
This workshop is for those who have no idea how to crochet but would love to learn! The class is $20 per person if you would like your ball of medium worsted weight Red Heart yarn and 6.0/6.5 crochet hook to be provided for you, or $15 if you to bring in your own hook and yarn (be sure to bring the proper size hook and yarn weight). The class also includes take-home instructions on how to crochet and how to read a crochet pattern. Yarn & crochet hook are yours to keep!
Check out some of the polymer clay Halloween charms that we made in last week’s workshop! Working with the clay was simple: roll it, shape it, bake it, glaze it…tada! Some ended up as necklace pendants, some as keychains, pins, magnets, whatever. So addictive. And relaxing too. I could’ve made them all night long. I don’t think I’ve been that calm and relaxed in months. Plus, we had glow-in-the-dark clay. Who knew it existed?? Should any of you ever visit the MIW bathroom facilities and turn off the light for a sec you just may spot a glowing ghost. He’s harmless.
Nicole was so excited that she even wore a dress to mark the occasion. Trust me, that’s a rare occurrence indeed.
This workshop was so well-received that we’ll likely do another one in early December. Stay tuned for details! And if you’d like to be added to our email list to receive a monthly calendar of events please send an email to madeinwindsor@gmail.com
Monday October 19, 2009 from 7-9pm $10
If you’ve been stockpiling your empty foil juice bags (or even if you haven’t) then we have a workshop for you. Use them to create a bag that is durable, functional, fun, and definitely a conversation starter! Simple sewing techniques will be used. We’ll have sewing machines on hand but if you have a portable one that you’re more comfortable with please feel free to bring it along!
Materials required – Foil juice bags (Kool-Aid Jammers, Del Monte Grab n Go Pouches, etc). Cut slit in bottom; drain juice; soak in soapy water; dry upright. You’ll need about 24 juice bags to make the big bag pictured; 8 to make the smaller clutch purse. We’ll have plenty of extra bags on hand if you don’t have enough of your own.
Call 519-973-0776 or email madeinwindsor@gmail.com to register. Workshop fee is just $10!

The paper wallet Workshop was a great success. Everyone left with a wallet, and some even used their new wallets before they left the store!

We brought in our favourite kinds of paper: old magazines, crafting books, atlases, and scrapbooking paper!
First we cut out all of the pieces, then ironed some vinyl onto them…
Then we sewed them together…some people had never even sewed before. It’s a bit scary at first, but once we got the hang of it we didn’t want to stop!

Finished wallets were a big hit! The paper wallet is a quick and easy project that you can be very proud of! They make great, inexpensive presents, and are a fantastic way to recycle paper. Wallet patterns came in both mens and womens. We received both patterns so we could make more when we got home.

Then, of course, we used our wallets to buy awesome stuff!
Ok, so it’s taken me a couple weeks but I’ve finally found a few spare moments to post some photos from our Grand Opening Party on September 19. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us AND the many who contributed to the day in countless ways.
Scissoring through our handmade ribbon at the cutting ceremony…followed by thunderous applause from the hordes of people who gathered outside to watch. Ok, ok so there were only about 20 brave souls out that early in the morning but their clapping was heartfelt and enthusiastic!
Made in Windsor employees Liana and Dianne ready to assist you.
People made things…
People shopped…
People ate…
People listened…
Thanks to all the talented local musicians who volunteered their time to play sets throughout the evening: Jeff Wilkinson & his daughter (sorry no photo), Shawn Daniel, Adam Fox, Tim Davidson, Adam Rideout-Arkell. I can’t wait to host more music events like this one!
The night ended with a couple bottles of champagne, compliments of my big brother Rick who drove in from Toronto.
