New to the Art Wall!

For the month of June, we are showcasing the The Egg Factory, which is part of a series of paintings, photos and mixed media work created by University of Windsor B.F.A.  student Arturo Herrera during the winter of  2010.

The series was inspired by a story he saw on television that showed how eggs were being used to create a vaccine for the H1N1 influenza virus. “I was already fascinated by the shape, colour and different uses of the egg to the point that I imagined it being a subject of artistic creation. I wanted to make a connection between the so fragile egg shell and the hidden powers of an egg.”

Arturo was born in Hondoras in 1977. His early work has been shown at the Chicago Modernism Show in Chicago Illinois, Winnetka Modernism Show in Winnetka Illinois, Dennos Museum Center in Traverse City Michigan, Washington Street Gallery in Ann Arbor,  Michigan and currently has work  at the Art Gallery of Windsor in the Art Rental and Sales section. Herrera now lives in  Canada, his new home, where he shares his projects and ideas with his partner and friends.

Next time your in the store, please take a moment have a look at this fascinating work!
